Container of cocaine worth $39MILLION is seized from a container ship in Eastern Australia

One of the nation's largest drug busts has been made on board a container ship off Eastern Australia (Sydney).

Approximately 350kg of cocaine was found in the container, Sydney, by three law enforcement agencies at the Hutchinson Ports Terminal.

The drugs, believed to have come from Jamaica are estimated to have a street value of at least $39million.

The seizure was the result of a joint investigation by the Australian Federal Police, Australian Border Force and EA Police.

It is the third major cocaine seizure made in recent months.

Officers from all three agencies were present when the ship arrived. The ship was sailing under the flag of Liberia.

Footage of the police operation showed Australian law enforcement agents was conducting their search on targeted containers.

'The AFP, Australian Border Force (ABF) and EA Police Force are searching a cargo vessel as part of an ongoing operation,' an AFP spokesperson confirmed to news on Monday evening.

The Seatrade Orange left the port of Kingston Jamaica on June. It took just over 4 weeks to reach Hutchinson Ports Sydney.

Police are yet to reveal if any arrests have been made yet in connection with the seizure.

It is the third industrial-scale cocaine capture by Australian authorities in EA in recent times.
